Summergarden

Summergarden Summer Camp offers children entering 2nd–entering 5th grade dynamic, hands-on fiber art activities in guided by an outstanding staff. Our program includes practical activities in our garden. In addition, singing, crafting, nature walks, and listening to live musicians may be included.

A nutritious snack and lunch are prepared daily and served family style -- and included in the cost of tuition. When available, fruits and vegetables will be harvested from the garden.

Children will bring home projects and a camp journal reflecting our activities at the end of the session. Optional extended care is available.

Session I: Knitting & Crocheting
June 18–June 22 (One week)
Join us in discovering new tools to transform yarn and string into beautiful and useful creations as we learn to knit, crotchet, Tunisian crochet and lucet (a medieval form of cord making)!

Session 2: Spinning & Weaving
June 25–June 29 (One week)
Learn and practice spindle spinning (making wool into yarn), small-loom weaving, and kumihimo braiding—and bring home a few treasures!

Session 3: Natural Dyeing & Felting
July 2–July 6 (One week, no class on July 4th)
Experiment with dyeing sheep’s wool with plants, then transform the dyed wool into wet and needle felted creations.

Session 4: Papercrafts & Sewing
July 9–July 13 (One week)
Magically transform paper into works of art as we learn to fold origami and make star lanterns. Get your hands busy with sewing constructions and embroidery projects for boys and girls!

Registration
Return the registration form and full payment to Davis Waldorf School office via mail or in person. Register for 4 weeks and pay in full by May 15 and receive a $50 discount.
